Kanbawza Thadi Palace, is the name of an imposing palace built by the founder of the second Myanmar Empire, King Bayintnaung ( 1551-1581 CE ). Mya Thar Lyaungreclining Buddha image, which is 82 meters ( 270 ft ) long. This image was built in 2000 as an act of Buddhist merit by a woman who contributed $ 100000 towards the cost of its construction. Afternoon back to Yangon, on the way excursion to Htaut Kyant War Cemetery, it has 27,000 tombstones of allied soldiers who lost their lives in Myanmar during the World War II. The cemetery is a calm, peaceful place and is beautifully tended. For those of you interested in wildlife, there are many rare and interesting birds to be seen, including the endemic White-throated babbler. Take a boat trip to Myitkangyi and you will be explained about life in the village, the fishermen, the wildlife and especially the Irrawaddy River dolphins. Start a village tour , meet the local farmers and fishermen’s families staying in traditionally designed wooden houses. Learn to experience the life of fisherman , casting a net looks difficult but is surprisingly fun to learn. Lesson will be given by the fishermen using specially designed, light weight nets. On the banks, watch the women with their children do the washing and busy boats on the river. We arrive in Myitkangyi at 11.35 and have some light refreshment in the Visitor Centre and you will be explained about life in the village, the fishermen, the wildlife and especially the Irrawaddy River dolphins. Now we are ready for a village tour which will be led by one of the local villagers. We will see the local farmers and meet the fishermen’s families staying in traditionally designed wooden houses. We will have lunch in the visitor centre and this is also an opportunity to look at some of the handicrafts made in the village and which are available for sale (fixed price –they are lovely, so please bring some Myanmar kyat with you –dollars will not work in a village!!). In the afternoon, you will learn for one hour to become fishermen/women. Casting a net looks difficult but is surprisingly fun to learn. You will be taught by the fishermen using specially designed, light weight nets. You will try and catch your own fish! You return to the village, say goodbye to your new friends and take the boat back to Sheinmaga. If you are lucky,you may see a passing dolphin. What You Can Expect The scenic way by bus and private boat from Mandalay to Bagan Kyauk Gu U Min Pick up at the hotel. We take you from your hotel to the Mandalay bus station where you take 4 hours’ drive with a public bus to Pakkoku. We start the tour visiting the colourful market, a local slipper factory and see where the famous Pakkoku blankets are made. A private boat is ready for you at the jetty in Pakkoku for a leisurely boat trip downriver while lunch is being served on board. About 1.5 hour boat ride we stop to visit Kyauk Gu Ohnmin cave temple that rarely sees foreign visitors and continue in about 1.5 hour to Bagan where you arrive at the end of the day.
